Greg Smedema
Manager of Key Accounts
WPS

Greg Smedema was named Manager – Key Accounts for WEC Energy Group in August 2022. In this role, Smedema is responsible for the 350 largest We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service industrial and commercial customers, managing a team of 10 account managers with the assistance of two business analysts.

Smedema started his WEC Energy Group career with We Energies in 2011 as an Agricultural Account Manager. In that role, he was the primary contact for agricultural customers’ needs ranging from billing and services to stray voltage. Prior to this role, he worked as an Energy Efficiency Advisor contracted to We Energies through Franklin Energy since 2007. In August 2018, he became Operations Supervisor – Major Projects, Natural Gas, supporting seasonal gas inspectors and contract crews installing projects in the Fox Valley area. 2020 saw Smedema return to account management as a Principal Account Manager in the We Energies Key Account Group.

Smedema holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agri-business with an emphasis in Agricultural Engineering Technology from UW-Platteville. He has served on a number of non-profit, promotion and economic development boards, as well as completing the Leadership Fox Cities Program.

Adam Johnson, Zorn Compressor & Equipment

Zorn Compressor & Equipment

Adam Johnson is a seasoned professional in the compressed air industry with over 25 years of hands-on experience. He began his career in 1999 as a Product Engineer with Pneumatech and later joined the company’s ConservAIR division, where he specialized in designing, quoting, supporting, and installing compressor automation panels and flow control valves. In 2006, Adam joined Zorn Compressor & Equipment, where he now serves as Director of the Technical Solutions Group.

In his current role, Adam leads compressed air system audits, engineering support, and industrial automation projects. He regularly performs site visits to install data logging sensors on industrial equipment, analyzes system performance, and presents findings to energy consultants, engineers, and plant managers. His responsibilities include evaluating key performance indicators, modeling energy savings and return on investment for proposed improvements, and supporting technical sales and service operations. Adam also manages a team of technicians and provides expertise on best practices in system efficiency and resiliency.

Over the course of his career, Adam has worked in environments as varied as underground mines and overseas refineries, gaining a unique perspective on industrial operations. Whether consulting on-site or diving deep into audit data, he’s driven by a passion for solving problems and helping facilities operate more efficiently. Outside of work, Adam enjoys camping, cooking, home improvement projects, and road-tripping with his family.

Erin Rau
Digital Services Commercialization Leader – North America
Trane Technologies

Erin Rau is the North America Digital Service Commercialization Leader for Trane Technologies. She is responsible for commercializing and supporting all of Trane’s new and existing digital offerings throughout the North American sales channels. She also works closely with Product Management and development teams on new functionality needs from the voice of the customer and Trane Associates. She is passionate about data analytics and the additional insights it can bring to building owners, team members, and students. Erin Rau graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia (Mizzou) in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and in 2024 with an MBA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Erin currently resides in Kansas City, Missouri and likes to spend time with her husband Chris and her kids Jackson (11) and Scarlett (9). Her hobbies include cheering on the St Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Royals and Chiefs, Missouri Tigers, traveling, wine and exploring the outdoors.

Jenny Brinker
Project Manager
GDS Associates, Inc.

Jenny Brinker is a project manager with GDS Associates, Inc. and has worked in the field of energy management since 2005. She has conducted hundreds of commercial and agricultural energy audits for utility and government programs. Her work connects clients with local, state and federal grant funding. She has expertise in evaluating commercial buildings as well as grain, greenhouse, and other agricultural operations. In her nine years as a Technical College instructor, Jenny’s teaching addressed building science and efficient facility operations, including building automation and renewable energy technologies. She studied energy storage technology in Germany as an international faculty member and sustainability practices in Belize as a study abroad instructor. Jenny holds a master’s degree in Land Resources and Energy Analysis and Policy from UW-Madison, she is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM®) and NABCEP PV Associate.
